Soros Funding Riots

Soros-Group Advocates Violence Against Cops in Baltimore
Foundation played role in agitating demonstrators during Ferguson protests
(Infowars) – Social media pages run by the George Soros-founded Open Society Foundations appeared to justify violence in Baltimore, in particular against police.
Yesterday, two of the foundation’s social media pages sent a Vox article out to their followers entitled, “This is the perfect response to anyone calling for nonviolence in Baltimore,” with an alternate headline reading, “The important thing everyone calling for nonviolence in Baltimore fails to say.”
The article highlights a story from The Atlantic’s Ta-Nehisi Coates, in which the author argues that protestor violence is an apt response to the violence perpetrated by police on residents of Baltimore throughout the years.
When nonviolence is preached by the representatives of the state, while the state doles out heaps of violence to its citizens, it reveals itself to be a con. And none of this can mean that rioting or violence is “correct” or “wise,” any more than a forest fire can be “correct” or “wise.” Wisdom isn’t the point tonight. Disrespect is. In this case, disrespect for the hollow law and failed order that so regularly disrespects the community.
In the wake of the destruction, other leftist publications such as Salon also got on the violence-against-police bandwagon, running a headline that reads, “Baltimore’s violent protesters are right: Smashing police cars is a legitimate political strategy,” which called non-violence a sometimes “futile tactic.”
The issue of police brutality, as in anywhere else in America or the world for that matter, is a problem in Baltimore. The city has paid out close to $5.7 million since 2011 to victims of police violence.
But the only logical response to riots, looting and destruction of private property is a more heavy-handed police crackdown, manifested in Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan’s recent decision to deploy the National Guard.
The Soros group knows this, and its social media send-outs illustrate how the foundation deliberately pours gas on the flames of civil unrest in order to “advance systemic change,” hoping to bring about their version of order out of chaos.
The Open Society Foundations, chaired and founded by Soros, was found to have contributed at least $33 million towards emboldening activists in Ferguson, Missouri, helping make the flawed “Hands up, don’t shoot” mantra ubiquitous.
Soros himself also admitted on CNN last year that a non-governmental organization he set up in Ukraine prior to its conflict with Russia “played an important part” in fomenting the events that destabilized the region.
While police violence on citizens of Baltimore is in no way justifiable, violent protests and attacks on police will merely serve to increase police forces and justify a militarized response.
Following their social media post, the Society had to “clarify” its position to a concerned Facebook user, claiming, “we’re not criticizing the call for calm nor are we condoning violence. We’re sharing this story since it draws attention back to police violence and brutality.”
Let’s extradite Soros to Moscow for his trial. The global criminal Marxists want to destroy police credibility, so they can bring in the UN police to replace them.

Giuliani on Baltimore

Giuliani: Decades of Liberal Democratic Rule Hasn't Helped Baltimore, Tuesday, 28 Apr 2015 11:30 PM, by Greg Richter
Former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani said three decades of liberal Democrats running Baltimore have done little to help the plight of minorities.

Appearing Tuesday on Fox News Channel's
"Hannity," Giuliani said he was able to bring communities such as Washington Heights back to prosperity after a riot in 1992 and a blackout in 1999.

"That community went from being very high crime community to being a good community," Giuliani said. "I would ask all those politicians you saw there talking about the terrible conditions, economic conditions, they have been in charge of Baltimore for the last 30 years. This is a Democratic city."

Democrat Martin O'Malley was the governor for eight years and mayor of Baltimore eight years before than, Giuliani noted.
"If those people are suffering from economic depravation, then what the heck have they done?," he asked. "What has (Rep.) Elijah Cummings done for his city? … What kind of economic development have they done?"

Democrats and left-leaning pundits have pointed to systemic racism and poverty for causing the boiling over of tensions in Baltimore and other cities as black men have died in police custody. The most recent was 25-year-old Freddie Gray in Baltimore, sparking protests and rioting.

Giuliani blamed the problems on "very left wing policies of dependency" and leaders who "don't do anything about the schools, let the teachers union push you around so you can't have vouchers, don't support charter schools, don't move people off welfare."

HEY, LIBERALS: Here’s The Real Reason For Baltimore’s ‘BLACK PROBLEMS’
Posted on April 29, 2015 Contrary to what the media and race baiters try to make you believe, here is the real reason why Baltimore is the way that it is.  By Allen West
The population of Baltimore is 622,000 and 63 percent of its population is black. The mayor, state’s attorney, police chief and city council president are black, as is 48 percent of the police force. But as 36-year-old Robert Stokes says, “You look around and see unemployment. Filling out job applications and being turned down because of where you live and your demographic. It’s so much bigger than the police department.”
Everyone wants to have an honest conversation about race, so let’s us endeavor to do just that. Now, of course, when you speak the hard truth about race issues in America – and not just the liberal progressive talking points – and you’re white, you’ll be branded a racist. And if you’re black, well, y’all just watch the comments below and see the denigrating drivel.
As posted on by John Nolte, “Contrary to the emotional blackmail some leftists are attempting to peddle, Baltimore is not America’s problem or shame. That failed city is solely and completely a Democrat problem.”
“Like many failed cities, Detroit comes to mind, and every city besieged recently by rioting, Democrats and their union pals have had carte blanche to inflict their ideas and policies on Baltimore since 1967, the last time there was a Republican Mayor. In 2012, after four years of his own failed policies, President Obama won a whopping 87.4% of the Baltimore city vote. Democrats run the city of Baltimore, the unions, the schools, and, yes, the police force. Since 1969, there have only been only been two Republican governors of the State of Maryland. Elijah Cummings has represented Baltimore in the U.S. Congress for more than thirty years.”
The truth is that it is a culture of dependency as promulgated by the race baiters and new plantation overseers of the inner city that has created what we’re seeing play out in Baltimore. There is where the blame lies, but there are very few who are willing to admit just that. - Allen B West

The Clinton Money Trail

The Clintons at it AGAIN  - To say the least, the average citizen would not escape significant prison time for any one of the offenses sited herein. Not to mention the earlier scandals that were swept under the rug because Slick Willy became president and controlled the investigation and the press.
Perhaps the most surprising thing about the forthcoming book rocking Washington right now is the number of stunning facts liberal media outlets have already confirmed and verified are accurate.
Here, then, are 11 facts that mainstream media say are true, verified, and facts from the upcoming blockbuster, Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich.
CONFIRMED: Hillary’s Foundation Hid a $2.35 Million Foreign Donation from the Head of the Russian Govt’s Uranium Company that Had Business Before Hillary Clinton’s State Dept.—a Clear Violation of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Obama Administration
The New York Times has confirmed that Hillary Clinton violated the Memorandum of Understanding she signed with the Obama administration promising to disclose all foreign donations during her tenure as Sec. of State.
As Clinton Cash reveals, Ian Telfer, the foreign head of the Russian-owned uranium company, Uranium One, which Hillary Clinton approved to acquire U.S. uranium, made four individual hidden donations to the Clinton Foundation totaling $2.35 million, none of which appear in Clinton Foundation disclosures.
CONFIRMED: Bill Clinton Bagged $500,000 for a Speech in Moscow Paid for by a Kremlin-linked Bank
The New Yorker confirms that, as Clinton Cash claims, Bill Clinton made $500,000 for a Moscow speech that was paid for by “a Russian investment bank that had ties to the Kremlin” at the time of the Uranium One deal.
“Why was Bill Clinton taking any money from a bank linked to the Kremlin while his wife was Secretary of State?” asks the liberal publication.
CONFIRMED: Hillary’s Brother Sits on the Board of a Mining Company that Scored an Extremely Rare “Gold Exploitation Permit” in Haiti as Hillary and Bill Clinton Disbursed Billions of U.S. Taxpayer Dollars in Haiti
The Washington Post confirms the accuracy of Clinton Cash’s revelation that Hillary Clinton’s brother, Tony Rodham, serves on the board of a mining company that scored a coveted and lucrative “gold exploitation permit” in Haiti as then-Sec. of State Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton were doling out billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars in the wake of the Haiti earthquake.
According to the Post, Rodham’s mining company “won one of the first two gold-mining permits the Haitian government had issued in more than 50 years,” just as Clinton Cash reveals.
CONFIRMED: Hillary’s Foundation Hid a Foreign Donation of 2 Million Shares of Stock by a Mining Executive with Business Before Hillary’s State Dept.—a Clear Violation of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Obama Administration
The Wall Street Journal confirms the book’s revelation that another foreign donation, one by Canadian mining executive Stephen Dattels, made a hidden donation of two million shares in Polo Resources that the Clinton Foundation chose not to disclose in violation of the Memorandum of Understanding the Clintons signed with the Obama administration.
“About two months later, the U.S. ambassador to Bangladesh pushed the energy adviser to that nation’s prime minister to allow ‘open pit mining,’ including in Phulbari Mines, where Polo Resources has a stake,” reports the Journal.
CONFIRMED: Hillary’s Approval of the Russian Takeover of Uranium One Transferred 20% of All U.S. Uranium to the Russian Govt.
The New York Times confirms, “The sale gave the Russians control of one-fifth of all uranium production capacity in the United States.”
The Times also verifies the book’s reporting that Hillary’s uranium transfer to Russia represented, at the time, a projected 50% of all U.S. uranium output.
CONFIRMED: Bill Clinton was Paid by a For-Profit Education Company Laureate While the Company Benefitted from an Increase in Funding from Hillary’s State Dept.
Bloomberg has confirmed that, as reported in Clinton Cash, Bill Clinton was paid by “Laureate International Universities, part of Laureate Education, Inc,” a position he abruptly resigned from on Friday.
Bloomberg’s examination confirms that “in 2009, the year before Bill Clinton joined Laureate, the nonprofit received 11 grants worth $9 million from the State Department or the affiliated USAID. In 2010, the group received 14 grants worth $15.1 million. In 2011, 13 grants added up to $14.6 million. The following year, those numbers jumped: IYF received 21 grants worth $25.5 million, including a direct grant from the State Department.”
The company nor the Clintons will release the exact amounts Bill received for working for the controversial for-profit education company.
CONFIRMED: The Clinton Foundation has Been Forced to Refile at Least 5 Years of Annual Tax Returns and May Audit Other Clinton Foundation Returns
Reuters has confirmed that “Hillary Clinton’s family’s charities are refiling at least five annual tax returns” as “the foundation and its list of donors have been under intense scrutiny.”
CONFIRMED: At Least $26 Million of the Clintons’ Wealth Comes from Speaking Fees by Companies and Organizations that are Also Major Clinton Foundation Donors
The Washington Post has confirmed in an article based on Clinton Cash that, according to the Post’s independent analysis, “Bill Clinton was paid more than $100 million for speeches between 2001 and 2013, according to federal financial disclosure forms filed by Hillary Clinton during her years as a senator and as secretary of state.”
Of that, reports the Post, “Bill Clinton was paid at least $26 million in speaking fees by companies and organizations that are also major donors to the foundation he created after leaving the White House, according to a Washington Post analysis of public records and foundation date.”
CONFIRMED: Clinton Cash author, Peter Schweizer, is Currently Conducting a Deep Dive Investigative Report on Republican Presidential Candidate Jeb Bush’s Financial Dealings
CBS News has confirmed that author Peter Schweizer is working on a similar investigation into GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush’s financial records and relationships.
“The wide-ranging examination will appraise the possible 2016 contender’s involvement in Florida real estate deals, an airport deal that involved state funds while Bush was Florida’s chief executive, and Chinese investments in Bush’s private equity funds,” reports CBS News.
CONFIRMED: Bill Clinton Delivered Numerous Speeches Paid for By Individuals and Corporations with Pending Business Before Hillary’s State Dept.
ABC News has confirmed Clinton Cash’s reporting that myriad businesses and individuals paid Bill Clinton to deliver speeches even as their companies had business on Sec. of State Hillary Clinton’s desk.
“Records supported the premise that former President Clinton accepted speaking fees from numerous companies and individuals with interests pending before the State Department,” reported ABC News.
ABC News noted it found “an instance where paid and unpaid speaking appearances were conflated,” but that Clinton Cash’s essential “premise” is “supported by records” ABC News independently analyzed.
CONFIRMED: Bill Clinton Lied about Hosting a Meeting with Frank Giustra and Kazakh Nuclear Officials at Clinton’s Home in Chappaqua, New York
New York Times Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter Jo Becker confirmed in a one-hour Fox News television special on Clinton Cash that Bill Clinton lied when questioned about whether Clinton, Giustra, and executives from the Kazakh-owned nuclear company Kazatomprom ever met in Clintons’ home.
“When I first contacted both the Clinton Foundation—Mr. Clinton’s spokesman—and Mr. Giustra, they denied any such meeting ever took place,” said Becker.
“And then when we told them, ‘Well we already talked to the head of Kazatomprom, who not only told us all about the meeting, but actually has a picture of him and Bill at the home in Chappaqua, and that he proudly displayed it on his office wall.’ They then acknowledged that yes, the meeting had taken place.”
The Hillary Clinton campaign continues to struggle in its efforts to spin and distract from the growing pile of Clinton Cash facts mainstream media outlets have already confirmed and verified are correct.
As Politico concludes, “Hillary’s Clinton Cash dismissal is dead in the water.”
The book drops May 5th.

Atlanta Mayor Supports Open Borders

Mayor Wanting to Turn Atlanta into Mexican Ghetto
Have you ever noticed that most of the liberal tyrant Democrats seem to congregate in large cities while most conservative and patriotic people, generally known as Republicans, live in more rural areas? That’s why the real heart of America is generally found away from the busy, nosy limits of large cities. Just look at the red-blue maps of the last couple presidential elections and you’ll see what I mean.
Atlanta, Georgia, is no different. While many places in the state are God-loving, gun-owning loyal American conservatives, Atlanta is the liberal anti-American center of the state. Mayor Kasim Reed literally worships the ground Barack Obama walks on and readily adheres to everything he says and does, especially when Obama utters his illegal immigration policies.
Reed is in full support of Obama’s welcoming illegals into the US and giving them everything they need and want. He has also made it known that he strongly opposes the lawsuit filed by 26 states, including Georgia, to block Obama’s delayed deportation program. In fact, Reed is willing to give illegals the keys to the city and help them open every door in the city. In a recent statement, Reed said:
“The truth of the matter is a lot of our foreign-born population lives in rural areas in the region and so I am telling those folks, ‘I think you are better off being inside the city limits.’ And if other folks don’t want to stand up and welcome you, why are you there?”
“I think that folks that don’t embrace these communities are on the wrong side of history, No. 1, and they are also on the wrong side of the economy.”
So as much as… the governor of Texas criticizes immigrants and beats up on the immigrant population in Texas, if the foreign-born population in Texas were to actually leave and go back to the countries of their origin, Texas’ economy would crater.”
From all of Reed’s many publically made statements supporting allowing illegals to stay in the US, it seems apparent that when he uses the term immigrants that he fully intends it to mean illegal immigrants. I wonder how many of Atlanta’s residents feel about inviting thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, of illegal aliens to move into their neighborhoods?
I’ve seen firsthand what this does to nice family friendly neighborhoods. They become crime infested ghettos. Property values and wages go down. Areas with large numbers of illegals, more employers pay minimum wage only since many illegals are happy to work for so little, which brings down the overall wage scale in the area. As much as I support legal immigration, one study showed that during times of high legal immigration, the wage scale for low-skilled workers dropped 7.4%.
Reed is also blind to the facts of what happens when states take a hard stand against illegal aliens. In 2011, Alabama passed strict immigration laws, one of which placed stiff penalties on employers who hired illegals. Many liberal Democrats claimed that the laws would hurt the state’s economy, however, Alabama’s unemployment rate dropped by 1.1% in just two months after the law went into effect and thousands of illegals left the state. When the unemployment rate dropped, the economy improved in response to more legal Alabama residents having jobs.
If Reed gets his wish, you can count on the wage scale dropping in the Atlanta area. Crime and drug use will increase and many neighborhoods will go from being well manicured family friendly areas to littered and trashy looking communities where no one will feel safe to walk the streets during the night or day. The influx of illegals will also bleed the city dry of resources as they abuse the system and the handouts being given to them. Atlanta will become a Mexican ghetto in a matter of years and everyone can thank Kasim Reed for ruining the city.

Dump McConnell

Senate Democrats still control the U.S. Senate, election results last November aside, an analysis of all the votes taken since Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) took over as Majority Leader shows.
In fact, with two minor exceptions, every single vote that has passed the U.S. Senate since the beginning of this Congress in January has passed with at least—usually more than—93 percent of support from Democrats.
“While Republicans have done nothing to create jobs and help the middle class, on other topics like passing clean funding for Homeland Security and confirming Loretta Lynch, Senator McConnell has done the right thing by bringing bills and nominations to the floor that Democrats can support,” Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid’s spokesman Adam Jentleson told Breitbart News. “Democrats hope this trend will continue.”
Since January, according to the U.S. Senate vote count website, there have been 10 nominations confirmed. Each one has seen unanimous support from Democrats who voted, but varying levels of Republican support.
Seven nominations—George C. Hanks, Jr., to be a U.S. district Judge for the Southern District of Texas, Alfred H. Bennett to be a U.S. district Judge for the Southern District of Texas, William P. Doyle to be a Federal Maritime Commissioner, Carlos A. Monje, Jr., to be Assistant Transportation Secretary, Christopher A. Hart to be National Transportation Safety Board chairman, Daniel Henry Marti to be Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator and Michael P. Botticelli to be Director of National Drug Control Policy—passed the Senate unanimously. That means all senators who voted on the nominations voted in favor, with no GOP opposition.
On the nomination of Russell C. Deyo to be Under Secretary for Management for the Department of Homeland Security, only two Republicans voted against it: Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and David Vitter (R-LA). On Ash Carter’s nomination to be Secretary of Defense, just five Republicans—Sens. Roy Blunt (R-MO), John Boozman (R-AR), Mike Crapo (R-ID), Mark Kirk (R-IL) and Jim Risch (R-ID)—voted no.
The nomination of Loretta Lynch to be Attorney General, replacing Eric Holder—the most recent confirmation, passing on Thursday afternoon—saw all Democrats vote in favor joined by 10 Republicans. They are: McConnell and Sens. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Thad Cochran (R-MS), Susan Collins (R-ME), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Ron Johnson (R-WI), Mark Kirk (R-IL), and Rob Portman (R-OH).
McConnell broke a pre-election promise that no attorney general nominee would be considered in his Senate if that nominee supported Obama’s executive amnesty, something that Lynch testified she supports.
In addition to those nominations that all passed with unanimous support from Reid’s Democratic conference in 2015, there have been eight pieces of legislation that passed the U.S. Senate so far this Congress—almost all with unanimous Democratic Party support.
The first bill to pass in 2015, the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2015, passed the U.S. Senate 93-4. Sens. Maria Cantwell (D-WA), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT)—an independent who caucuses with Democrats—were the only Democrats to vote against it. The only other vote against was from Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), a Republican who’s currently seeking the GOP nomination for the presidency but at the time was still mulling a run. Since two of the three senators not voting were Democrats—Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Reid himself—that means that 41 Democrats voted for it. This was the worst vote for Democrats all Congress, with a whopping 93 percent of their conference that voted on the bill voting for it and just 7 percent voting against it.
Of the other seven pieces of legislation that passed the U.S. Senate so far this Congress, three—a Veterans Affairs bill dealing with mental health of veterans, an anti-child pornography bill, and the recent anti-human trafficking bill that paved the way for Lynch’s nomination vote—passed unanimously with no opposition from Republicans or Democrats. A fourth, the so-called “doc fix” which raised the national debt by nearly $200 billion without offsetting cuts to pay doctors who accept Medicare more, passed with unanimous Democratic support and only eight Republicans voting against it. Those eight Republicans were: Sens. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), Richard Shelby (R-AL), Ted Cruz (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), David Perdue (R-GA), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Ben Sasse (R-NE), and Tim Scott (R-SC).
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) bill that funds President Obama’s executive amnesty despite pre-election promises from Republicans they would do no such thing—the other bill that passed thanks to Democratic support—saw no Democrats vote against it. Only Republicans—31 of them—opposed the measure to fund Obama’s amnesty, and McConnell got it passed with a coalition of 45 Democrats and 23 Republicans.
There are only two measures—both bills—which passed the U.S. Senate this Congress without the at least 93 percent but usually unanimous support from Democrats: a bill blocking Obama’s National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) ambush elections rule and a bill that would have approved the Keystone XL pipeline. The NLRB vote passed on purely partisan lines, with 53 Republicans voting for it and Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) actually joining all 45 Democrats voting to oppose it.
The Keystone pipeline bill saw all Republicans who were voting—Rubio didn’t vote—vote in favor, joined by 9 Democrats: Sens. Mark Bennet (D-CO), Tom Carper (D-DE), Bob Casey (R-PA), Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Claire McCaskill (D-MO), Joe Manchin (D-WV), Heidi Heitkamp (D-SD), Mark Warner (D-VA) and Jon Tester (D-MT).
It’s worth noting that President Obama vetoed both the NLRB bill and the Keystone bill. While Republicans tried to override Obama’s Keystone veto, they failed.
What’s perhaps most interesting about all this data is that there are 54—a majority—Republicans in the U.S. Senate and just 46 Democrats. The GOP majority is because of the midterm elections last November, which saw a nine-seat swing in favor of Republicans—one of the biggest in history. But it’s quite clear from the empirical data that nothing has changed, and Reid’s office is clearly quite happy about it. It’s as if he’s still the Senate Majority Leader.
McConnell on the other hand is getting beat all over the place. Whether it’s by choice or by accident, either way he currently has no defense for his failures as a leader. Offered the opportunity to comment on this story before publication, McConnell’s office did not respond by press time.

State threatening anti-Common Core parents with jail?  Fight over federalized testing escalates by Bob Unruh
Parents in South Carolina who are part of a nationwide revolt against Common Core say they are being threatened with “criminal accountability” if they prevent their children from taking the tests required by the controversial educational-standards program.
Tamra Hood, a member of South Carolina Parents Involved in Education, said the state Education Department’s Chief Operating Officer, Elizabeth Carpentier, warned parents could spend 30 days in jail if even a single day of testing is missed, Breitbart News reported.
In addition, Hood said Carpentier warned that groups that encourage parents to refuse the Common Core-aligned tests could be charged with aiding and abetting a crime.
A memo from South Carolina state education Superintendent Molly Spearman to districts bluntly declared there is “no statutory provision for parents to opt their children out of testing.”
Dino Teppara of the state agency’s public information office denied any threats were made and also denied that Carpentier said parents can be held criminally liable if they remove their children from school on testing days, insisting she “simply noted the truancy provisions in state statutes.”
In any case, Education Secretary Arne Duncan has clearly warned that if states don’t fix the problem of parents opting out, the federal government will “have an obligation to step in.”
Despite the insistence of supporters that Common Core is a state-driven education program, last week Duncan criticized parents who opt out of testing, charging they are hurting minorities and the disabled.
National Review Online reported Duncan’s position is that in the past, English language learners, students in special education and racial minorities were “swept under the rug.”
“Folks in the civil rights community, folks in the disability community, they want their kids being assessed. They want to know if they are making progress or growth,” he said.
In 2013, Duncan chalked up the opposition to Common Core to “white suburban moms who – all of a sudden – [realize] their child isn’t as brilliant as they thought they were, and their school isn’t quite as good as they thought they were.”
Resistance to Common Core, which has been adopted by 46 states, is building.
In Arkansas, a mother confronted the Arkansas State Board of Education about the program’s absurdly high demands, a high-school honors student in New Jersey blasted the testing publicly and an award-winning teacher in Ohio told a stunned audience she’s quitting because of Common Core.
Commenting on the resistance in New York state, where 184,000 of 1.1 million eligible students refused to take Common Core English exams earlier this month, renowned educator Diane Ravitch asked, “What if they threw a test and nobody took it? New York is about to find out,” the Long Island Press reported.
Common Core opponents have leaked a copy of an examination, and a number of states are formally taking action to withdraw from the requirements.
A parent in South Carolina, Artie Allen, has a Facebook page encouraging “Stop Common Core in South Carolina.”
He has no sympathy for state and district school officials fretting over funding-cut threats from the government.
“We got the sob story from one of our 3 kids schools that we kept our kids home from [testing] today that we could cause them to lose federal money. Maybe you should have thought about that before you took the money in the first place!! See what happens when you sleep with the devil.”
National Review Online pointed out that in Colorado, which voted for Obama twice, the state board approved a resolution that districts cannot be punished for test-taking rates, and lawmakers were working on a bill to protect parents who opt their children out of such tests.
The Home School Legal Defense Association noted Duncan did not clarify what he meant by “stepping in.”
“Duncan’s statements reflect a growing pressure on education bureaucrats to keep states locked into the Common Core,” HSLDA said. “Students nationwide are still opting out of voluntary benchmark assessments, which are meant to prepare them for all-day Common Core tests.”
HSLDA said it is “concerned that federal officials will again resort to financial incentives – or threaten to withhold funding – to coerce students into participating in these tests.”
“As demonstrated empirically by 2009′s ‘Race to the Top’ grants, state governments have a track record of prioritizing federal funds over their own sovereignty. Lured by the promise of funding, many cash-strapped states could not or would not resist the offer of billions of dollars in exchange for what seemed, at the time, a small sacrifice: adhering to a set of K-12 learning standards.”
The HSLDA report said that as “grassroots movements and parental opposition continues to dismantle Common Core piece by piece, concerned citizens should remain vigilant and take Duncan’s threats seriously.”
“Whenever the government threatens to ‘step in,’ the right of parents to be involved in their children’s education is bound to suffer,” the group’s report said.
Commentator Alex Newman, co-author of a new book, “Crimes of the Educators: How Utopians Are Using Government Schools to Destroy America’s Children,” with Sam Blumenfeld, wrote recently that the Obama administration “has made no secret of its desire to control your children’s education from ‘cradle to career,’ as Obama Education Secretary Arne Duncan often puts it.”
“Top officials have also been very specific in terms of the radical ideas and values they plan to hammer into the pliable minds of America’s children.”
The U.S. Department of Education, he noted, says it is “taking a leadership role in the work of educating the next generation of green citizens and preparing them to contribute to the workforce through green jobs.” Duncan boasted in a 2010 speech to a “sustainability” summit.
“Do you send your children to school to get indoctrinated as ‘green citizens’ so they can have ‘green jobs’? If you are like most parents, the answer is no,” Newman said.
“But that matters little to the Obama administration and its extremist allies in ‘education reform’ – the United Nations, crony capitalists hoping to profit, population-control zealot and Common Core financier Bill Gates, and the whole corrupt educational establishment. Using taxpayer-funded bribes, Obama’s Education Department has been very successful so far in imposing its controversial ‘Common Core’ national standards across most of America.”
