U.N. 2012 Rio Conference

A team of “spies” led by the U.K.’s Lord Christopher Monckton infiltrated the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, known as Rio+20, over the past few weeks, uncovering startling and open admissions that the real agenda behind the confab is not environmentalism, but one-world government.
In an interview following the conference with Liberty News Network, Monckton, a former advisor to U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and current policy advisor for the Science & Public Policy Institute, explained that many attendees openly admitted the “green” agenda was failing, but that the dream of a global socialist government must nonetheless go on.
“The deforestation that’s evident here in Brazil should be discouraged and reversed … these are real environmental concerns. But these concerns were not talked about here at this conference,” Monckton revealed. “Instead, they were still effectively talking about a mechanism for setting up a global government so that they can shut down the West, shut down democracy and bring freedom to an end worldwide.”
Though credentialed for the conference through his connections with SPPI, Monckton says he was barred from many of the gathering’s meetings. Nonetheless, he said, he was able to get a team of “spies” into a meeting of the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives, or ICLEI, preceding the main conference.
ICLEI works to implement through state and local governments the U.N.’s “Agenda 21″ from its first Rio de Janeiro conference in 1992.
Monckton recited what his spies discovered of the ICLEI members: “They were saying to each other, ‘We can no longer talk about Agenda 21 in the context of the environment because the environment, thanks to those dirty skeptics, has become a dirty word. … We won’t be able to win the argument if we talk about the environment anymore. We can’t talk about climate change because even we have to admit it’s not happening as they said. We can’t talk about green issues, because, frankly, in the West the environment is largely quite well regulated altogether, and it’s just been vastly overblown.’
“They themselves were saying this!” Monckton proclaimed. “They were saying we cannot justify an environmental agenda – which is what Agenda 21 is supposed to be – in environmental terms.
“This is an extraordinary admission,” Monckton said. “What they should have done, therefore, is to say that we don’t need Agenda 21, but of course they do need it … because their real ambition has nothing whatever to do with the environment.”
Monckton further clarified in an interview with Alex Jones of InfoWars.com, “These people said among themselves – they didn’t realize we were listening – that they’re encouraging each other no longer to use the word ‘environment,’ no longer to talk about ‘climate change,’ because, they said to each other, ‘We know now that the people are not buying this message anymore. We’ll have to think of something else.’”
As WND reported, a Republican National Committee resolution earlier this year accused Agenda 21 of being exactly what Monckton says his spies discovered: according to the resolution, “a comprehensive plan of extreme environmentalism, social engineering and global political control.”
Monckton told Liberty News Network that he first learned of a Marxist agenda behind environmentalism – using a “green” scare to create an international, socialist, ruling body to force capitalist nations into compliance – when he befriended Eric Ellington, one of the founders of Greenpeace.
Monckton says Ellington was forced out of Greenpeace because the organization had been overrun with Marxists, “who, he said, had ‘taken over’ the organization for purposes that clearly had nothing to do with the environment and were everything to do with destroying the economies of the West as fast as possible from within.”
Monckton says Ellington called the new breed of Marxist environmentalist “watermelons”: “Green on the outside and red on the in.”
“My own phrase for people who are at this Rio conference is ‘the traffic light tendency,’” Monckton said, “the greens who are too yellow to admit they’re really reds.”

Despite the headwinds, the U.N. received pledges of over $500 billion, with $105 billion coming from U.S. taxpayers.  We are paying for this treason.
