I know you put a lot of time and energy into this, it opened
even my eyes a bit. It is much
appreciated. When the controversy over Obama being a natural born citizen (or
not) began I tended to dismiss it.
I figured even if it were true that Obama wasn't eligible,
none of our governing institutions would do anything about it. A jaded view, I confess. Nonetheless it is
very important to "fight the good fight" and document this stuff for
history's sake.
I think there is a larger pattern at work here, one that
really doesn't bode well for the future unless the people rise up. Our whole
system of government breaks down when the "checks and balances" so
cleverly designed by the founders are simply ignored. Every branch of government has a
responsibility to act to preserve its own Constitutional power and role. By acting "selfishly" to conserve
its own powers, each branch creates a more stable and democratic society.
I doubt the founders ever envisioned a situation where
entire branches of government would refuse to do their job, and hand over their
power to plutocrats. What we have now is
not anarchy, where "every man does what is right in his own eyes",
but instead a kind of soft despotism, where a small group of elites decide what
they want, and the machinery of government follows without hardly a
whimper.
Examples abound:
- Illegal wars, provoked by the executive branch in Libya,
Syria and other places (Ukraine?) without a required vote by Congress. The war powers act clearly states that the
President MUST consult with Congress and lays out specific circumstances that
prescribe under what conditions our troops can be sent into harms way. The fact that multiple presidents have
ignored this law does not negate the responsibility of Congress to stand up for
the rule of law and itself as an institution.
Since the Judiciary refuses to step in, and lacks the enforcement
mechanism, impeachment is probably the only remedy here. Note that impeachment in the House even if
not resulting in removal from office in the Senate would send a strong
admonishment to future presidents who are tempted to use our military for
foreign policy adventurism.
- Multiple violations of the bill of rights - NSA spying in
violation of the 4th amendment, holding US citizens in prison without due
process (Jose Padilla - the alleged "dirty bomb" plotter who was a US
citizen, also Martin Armstrong.) The
appropriate branch to act as a check would be the judiciary. While we've had a few courageous judges rule
against the NSA, for the most part appeals courts have overruled them, and
given the executive branch wide latitude to violate the Constitution in the
name of "national security."
- Rampant un-prosecuted fraud and perjury committed by big
banks in the mortgage foreclosure crisis.
Banks illegally and criminally "robo-signed" loan documents to
cover up for their own sloppy paperwork in recording assignments of deeds and
other documents crucial to establishing chain of title. Our entire system of property rights that
goes back to the Magna Carta relies on honest and verifiable "chains of
trust" that establish who owns what.
Allowing criminal bankers to falsify and forge mortgage documents
resulted in enormous harm done to our legal system and robbed County
governments of recording fees that were due them. To this date very few if any criminal prosecutions
have occurred. Primarily due to our
corrupt Department of Justice headed by Eric Holder. But we should not forget also that state
level attorney generals have failed to follow their oaths to faithfully
prosecute those who violate laws, no matter how powerful they may be.
Viewed in this light, the failure by the judiciary or
legislative branches to hold Obama accountable (and as you have documented,
that they in fact collaborated in the effort to enable him to take office
despite being ineligible) simply follows their other cowardly failures to
perform their job responsibilities.
Ultimately it is up to "we the people" to remedy this
situation, one way or another. If we
continue to vote for the same clowns, we enable the plutocrats to continue to
steal and defraud us.
