GA HB 233, the new civil forfeiture Bill,
should prevent police seizure of cash from innocent citizens. If the citizens have a bill of sale or bank
withdrawal receipt, the cops should let them keep their own money.
The
current version of HB 233 looks like a “full employment” Bill for states
attorneys to take possession of this ill-gotten cash, deposit it, report it,
etc. This cash should not be seized in the first place.
