Atheists Just Lost Major Lawsuit

Atheists like to think they own the public square. They sit on their high horses, looking for an opportunity to strike down Americans who love God and aren’t afraid to show it.

It’s why they sue to get the Ten Commandments out of our court rooms, and why they use the Internet and other public forums to make fun of believers.

A recent lawsuit by atheists attempted to sue a school for its continued use of the phrase “And under God” on public property. What happened next was incredible.

American Overlook gives us more details:

The American Humanist Association recently filed a lawsuit against a local school district for including the phrase “And under God” during the pledge of allegiance on school property. The lawsuit contends that by having the phrase as part of the pledge of allegiance, they are breaking the law separating church and state.

The lawsuit went in front of a judge today, and he made a very important decision. The judge completely dismissed the lawsuit.

Before the judge’s decision, a spokesperson for the American Humanist Association told reporters, “The current pledge practice marginalizes atheist and humanist kids as something less than ideal patriots, merely because they don’t believe the nation is under God.”

One of the students at the school released a statement about the judge’s decision. “I’m so grateful the court decided that kids like me shouldn’t be silenced just because some people object to timeless American values.”

A similar case was dismissed in Massachusetts last year. It’s good to see judges can see the value of freedom of speech. If an atheist doesn’t want to say that part of the Pledge, they don’t have to. No one’s forcing them to utter a word.

But to try and sue to have it excluded, especially when so much of our countries valuable heritage is ingrained and enmeshed with the phrase is both disrespectful and ignorant.
