Shocking Revelation Out of Trump’s Past Provides Him With Major Ammo in Feud With Jeb

It comes as no surprise that GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump has been making headlines again after causing a controversy with statements he’s made. Recently, he drew criticism from many establishment Republicans when he pointed out that the 9/11 2001 terror attacks happened on former President George W. Bush’s watch.

Trump is certain the terrorists would never have hit America if he had been in the White House because he was on alert for terrorist attacks well before passenger planes were turned into missiles and used against Americans.

Much to the chagrin of his detractors, it turns out that Trump can back up his statements. Way back in 2000 — a full 19 months before September 11, 2001 — Trump wrote in detail about the threat that terrorism posed to the United States. In his opinion, a major terrorist attack on a U.S. city was not only likely, it was inevitable.

In his book The America We Deserve Trump wrote:

“I really am convinced we’re in danger of the sort of terrorist attacks that will make the bombing of the Trade Center look like kids playing with firecrackers…. No sensible analyst rejects this possibility, and plenty of them, like me, are not wondering if but when it will happen.”

Trump had harsh words for American foreign policy and even mentioned Osama bin Laden by name:

“One day we’re told that a shadowy figure with no fixed address named Osama bin-Laden is public enemy number one, and U.S. jetfighters lay waste to his camp in Afghanistan. He escapes back under some rock, and a few news cycles later it’s on to a new enemy and new crisis.”

Fellow GOP candidate, Jeb Bush didn’t miss an opportunity to take offense at Trump’s comments and grab a little headline space for himself. He took to Twitter and called Trump’s criticism “pathetic.” He later told Jake Tapper on CNN that, “Trump talks about foreign policy like he’s still on his reality show, ‘The Apprentice.’”

Since Trump’s book came out at least four years prior to ‘The Apprentice’ being aired on television, Jeb’s comments don’t hold water. In fact, The Donald devoted a large section of his book to discussing how terrorism was the biggest threat to American national security and that the government’s failure to adequately address it was placing us all in danger.

According to Defense One, Peter Beinhart had this to say about Trump’s comments:

“For many years now, that foreign-policy establishment has insisted that questioning Bush’s failure to stop the September 11 attacks constitutes an outrageous slur,” he writes, arguing former Bush spokesman Ari Fleischer’s attack on Trump, calling him a “truther” on CNN, is “blurring the line between accusing Bush of having orchestrated the attacks and accusing Bush of having been insufficiently vigilant in trying to stop them. But Bush was insufficiently vigilant. The evidence is overwhelming.”
