Vote No on Vouchers

By Chris Owen, 5/17/16

Subject: Question #1 on your Ballot survey

It is the very first question on your May 24 ballot!  VOTE NO!!!!!!!  It is VERY misleading! You will find this survey question #1 by the state Republicans on the ballot for this primary vote:

SHOULD GEORGIA EMPOWER PARENTS WITH THE RIGHT TO USE THE TAX DOLLARS ALLOCATED FOR THE EDUCATION OF THEIR CHILDREN, ALLOWING THEM THE FREEDOM TO CHOOSE AMONG PUBLIC, PRIVATE, VIRTUAL, AND HOME SCHOOLS?
VOTE NO!!!

Ballot survey questions become legislation and the political parties use these surveys to influence your representatives to vote their way.

This is a school voucher program.    While many people believe they would like public taxpayer funds to be transferred from the public schools to the families who want to put their children in private schools or who home school......  with these fund transfers will come government accountability mandates to the private schools and home school families who take the money.

This article explains what accountability measures could be implemented:

Rest assured, at a minimum the private school will have to meet the Georgia assessments associated with Common Core.  The state run charter schools have to now after years of having flexibility.   A voucher program, especially one with the federal government involvement (included in the federal "Every Student Succeeds Act), will end school choice forever.

Please share this information with your contacts so everyone has time to do their own research before going to vote the next three weeks.
