Discrimination Laws

Our discrimination laws favor the rights of protected groups over the rights of everybody else.

The civil rights era correctly pointed out that the American goal of assimilation had failed Blacks. Segregation laws were clearly in violation of the rights of Blacks who were forced to “keep to themselves” with separate bathrooms, water fountains and placement in the back of the bus. Blacks had already won the right to be integrated into the military.

In the 1950s, Blacks lived in segregated neighborhoods. They had developed businesses to serve these Black communities, their families were intact and functioning and they elected their own representatives. They had Black colleges and competent Black professionals and CEOs.

Bias against Blacks existed because they were isolated and appeared to be more prone to violence and crime. Those who thought they were inferior got it wrong. The normal curve applies to all human beings.  Whites who got to know Blacks figured this out for themselves.

When full integration was imposed, Blacks won the right to be served at all restaurants, shops and businesses and they could be housed in all hotels. Their rights trumped the rights of business owners to define their own clientele. They adjusted and now have no trouble serving Black customers.

As a Personnel Director, I ignored the civil rights act and hired the best people I could find for the job within the market price. What occurred was that I ended up with very diverse workforces and happy employees. I never violated the civil rights laws, but I was certainly not a regulatory zealot. I didn’t want the employees to resent the newcomers.

It’s one thing to rightly tell the citizens that they should believe that all human beings are equally capable of taking their place on the multiple normal curves they occupy, but subjecting everybody else to frivolous law suits is too much.

The pile on of protected groups in the Civil Rights Act and the expansion of its footprint is causing its own chaos.

The 2008 Meltdown was a direct result of the Community Reinvestment Act of 1993 and HUD anti-discrimination rules that forced banks to give mortgage loans to unqualified buyers.  Muslims have announced that they are coming to the US to use our anti-discrimination laws against us to take over the US.  In the meantime, municipalities are fining bakeries for not baking cakes for Gay Weddings. Finally, we just dodged the bullet of having hate crime status imposed to punish free speech.
