UN Beginnings

The UN has morphed from a pathetic failure to an absolute global menace.

The League of Nations was formed in 1920. The League of Nations was an international organization, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, created after the First World War to provide a forum for resolving international disputes. They enforced the Treaty of Versailles

It was the first international organization whose principal mission was to maintain world peace. Its primary goals, as stated in its Covenant, included preventing wars through
collective security and disarmament and settling international disputes through negotiation and arbitration.

In 1946, the League of Nations was officially dissolved with the establishment of the United Nations. The United Nations was modeled after the former but with increased international support and extensive machinery to help the new body avoid repeating the League’s failures.

From 1920 to 1946, the League had some minor successes resolving minor territory disputes and fiscal failures, but was ineffective in stopping land grabs, revolution and wars. Hitler rose on their watch and created World War II.
