Obama’s
“stimulus” $trillions were wasted. We have squandered our infrastructure
revenue since 2009. We need to repair our highways to support interstate
commerce and expand our highways where needed.
The
interstates that go through large cities are in need of expansion, because
bloated local populations combine with interstate traffic and create gridlock. Large
cities who are experiencing this gridlock should resist unnecessary population expansion
until their highways are functioning.
Public
transit will not solve this problem. It only goes where it goes and that is not
usually where we need to go. Cities still require automobiles to get around to
all the places we need to go.
The
Interstate highways could be given to the States, but Trump will likely keep
them until States are able to reduce funding to education and healthcare.
Funding
the USDOT comes from the 18 cent federal gasoline tax, but there is a case to
be made to add funding from general revenue as less constitutional expenses are
reduced.
