Before the migrant
invasion and the offshoring of manufacturing, minimum wage jobs were the jobs
that were performed by teenagers.
Now these jobs are
filled by young adults who used to advance to higher paying jobs after they graduated.
They want higher paying jobs, but our post-2008 economy has failed to produce
them. Even minimum wage jobs are
contracting as internet sales increase and retail outlet sales decrease.
The Trump plan
underway is designed to restore jobs in manufacturing, oil and gas, mining
minerals and coal, harvesting trees, building pipelines, expanding highways,
refurbishing rail and airports and many other jobs.
The underemployed
adults who have been working these minimum wage jobs need to figure out what
jobs they would like and keep alert to opportunities for these jobs as they
begin to occur.
Those who want
manufacturing jobs need to keep an eye on the courses being filled at community
colleges to see what manufacturing jobs are opening up. These colleges are
usually contacted by manufacturers like they did when they needed electronics
assemblers and the community colleges opened 1 year courses employers required.
Many jobs are filled
by referral of friends by current employees.
