Churches need to adjust their narrative to become more
relevant to daily life.
In “New Life to a Dying World” Pope Benedict the XVI
predicted that the Church would shrink and he made this prediction 50 years
ago.

I agree with Pope Benedict’s analysis, but I am more
optimistic about how Churches could recover from their inattention and
political correctness.
If the Churches in the American Colonies had remained
silent and neutral in the 1700s, we would never have established the United
States as a sovereign country.
Now in the US we are reestablishing our economy, our US
Constitution (as written) and the primacy of our Creator. Churches who have
endorsed Trump’s agenda are growing and the others who are against Trump’s
agenda are shrinking.
Churches need to become as relevant now as they were
instrumental in the formation of our Declaration of Independence and based US
law on the 10 Commandments and divine providence and imposed limited government
based on freedom and human nature supported by the philosophers who promoted
freedom and individual sovereignty.
Churches need to reemphasize divine providence and our task
in this life on earth as following God’s Will for us. We are here on earth to
do a job. We can determine the job we are here to do by prayerfully identifying
our skills, talents and motivation. Our free will enables us to choose how we
will spend our time in this life on earth.
American Churches need to examine the US Constitution and
the founding documents and compare this with the current overreach of
government and support a return to the limited government imposed by the US
Constitution (as written). Churches also
need to examine human nature from human history to confirm what forms of
government have worked in cooperation with human nature and expose those forms
of government that have worked against human nature. Churches need to tell the story of how the
government has attempted to remove God from our American culture and fostered
dependency on government to replace God.
Churches need to emphasize “Free Will” and personal
responsibility and personal sovereignty to examine human behavior and its
consequences. Churches need to explain
that those who follow the rules have a happy, successful life and those who
don’t follow the rules create their own problems.
Churches need to speak out about dealing with daily
problems and weigh in on solutions starting with what we as individuals are
responsible to fix.
Churches need to examine the errors and their natural
consequences. Those who become drug addicts also become alienated from their
families. These families do not want any association with drug gangs. They
don’t want their homes burglarized. They have a responsibility to protect their
homes and unaffected family members. Those who are gay have similar problems as
families want to support their gay relatives, but don’t want the gay lifestyle
to endanger their children. Family members with these kinds of problems need to
know and accept some family resistance.
Each of these behavior deviations carry their own set of
consequences that are unique to the sub-culture each group is subscribing to. Those
who have chosen to join these sub-cultures need to know the trade-offs and
pitfalls of these sup-cultures. These are the consequences of their “free will”
choices. Families need to know that these deviations carry their own
punishments. Free will is self-correcting.
Our human nature as the heirs of our Western Civilization is
revealed in the History of Western Civilization and it’s messy. It’s full of
errors and advances. We are living in a pivotal time and it’s time for the
Churches to weigh in and stop being pushed around.
