Disaster Relief Cost

The price-tag for natural disasters in 2017 is $133 billion. This will eventually land on our credit card and increase our national debt. .

Those who choose to live in areas where natural disasters like floods and fires are common need to be responsible for purchasing their own insurance policies to cover damages when these natural events occur. Government needs to mitigate future damage where possible to divert water and install fire breaks.  Beyond that, homeowners need to be careful to avoid buying homes on flood plains and forest fire prone areas.  Corrupt zoning practices need to be policed and corrected.

Insurance premiums need to be priced according to risk. Those who want to live in beach houses and next to forest land will need to pay the price.
