What Countries Should Do

All countries need to look to the needs of their citizens. They need to look at their natural resources, land area, populations, labor force, imports, exports, government debt, GDP and GDP per capita GDP and available capital to determine what they can do to advance self-support for their citizens.

Countries need to look at their total land area and determine what unused land could be put to productive use like farming, ranching, drilling and mining and establish this land for future development. All countries have evolved from their agricultural roots and the same rules still apply. The population needs to be fed, so there is no better use for the land than to grow food and raise livestock. This works best when families can buy their own farms and use them to make a living.

These family farms should be allowed to sell their own produce and use their money to purchase seed, tools, work animals. Once these farms are working, these farmers may be able to purchase labor-saving devices like tractors and harvesters. They will certainly need a well for clean water and should install septic tanks for sanitation. These prospective farmers should already have experience farming before banks will lend them enough to buy seed. Irrigation systems will need to be built. Private property ownership must be allowed to make this work. This plan should help to put more of the population in the labor force.

Even pre-historic populations managed to raise sheep, goats and cattle in all kinds of terrane. There is no reason why populations cannot be allowed to grow their own food and feed themselves. Third-world countries need to put the goal of making their entire populations self-supporting before they embark on anything else. This requires a government that is willing to do the job.

Governments that are not willing to do the job will have difficulties that will result in civil war, Communist take-overs and starvation.

The key to increasing their prosperity is profitable growth. Increasing production of all things that are in demand is critical. All countries need to increase the size of their private sector economies. Private farms and businesses owned by citizens need to be established to operate in a free market economy.

Their first objectives should include rooting out corruption and establishing the rule of law and financial controls to ensure cash flow,

The poorest countries often need to provide sanitation and clean water to villages where these are needed and mitigate common diseases with DDT to reduce mosquito populations.

Those countries with terrorist groups need to eliminate these groups and enlist good neighboring countries to help them.
