Convention of States Article V Constitutional Convention Loses in 13 States this Year! By Janine Hansen, National Constitutional Issues Chairman Eagle Forum

The battle to save our Constitution rages across the country. Although "conservatives" control no City Councils, County Commissions, State Legislatures, and certainly not the U.S. Congress, "Pie in Sky" Convention of States advocates dream that they can control an Article V Constitutional Convention. The delegates from EVERY state will most likely be proportional based on population and apportioned according to the Electoral College. This puts small states and especially "conservatives" at an incredible disadvantage.

We all recognize that our country is in trouble. The hypnotic response of the Convention of States followers is, "We must do something... and their something is an Article V Constitutional Convention, no matter the risks. This is like pouring gasoline on our smoldering Constitution.

Many have awakened to the incredible threat an Article V Constitutional Convention poses to our vulnerable Republic. Convention of States Project tells us we do not have to worry because any amendments coming out of an Article V Constitutional Convention will have to be approved by the States, either the State Legislatures or a Convention in that State.

History would tell us not to trust the judgment of the States. It was the States after all that gutted the balance of power, the checks and balances, placed in the Constitution by our founders when in 1913 they ratified the 17th Amendment. Originally U.S. Senators were elected by the State Legislatures. This assured that the power, jurisdiction and autonomy of States were protected. Our founders understood that all government is subject to corruption. They designed a Constitution that divided power and pitted one part of government against another in order that, as they jealously guarded their own power, it would by design, protect our liberties. The States gave away their power to the Federal Government essentially destroying the balance and checking of power, when they ratified the 17th Amendment which provided for the popular election of U.S. Senators.

The States' ratification of the 17th Amendment is greatly responsible for the mess we find ourselves in right now...the Federal Government owns the states...because each receives between 19%-49% of their state general fund budget from the Federal Government, making them appendages of the Feds. They no longer have the interest in protecting us from the Federal Octopus because they are one of its many appendages.

Between 2014 and 2017, twelve states made application to the Congress to Call an Article V Constitutional "Convention of the States" including: Alaska, Arizona, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. 

However, the "Convention of States Project" applications, including delegate bills which are the gateway to Article V Conventions, have failed this year to pass in a single state and have failed in thirteen states including: Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming.

There are continuing battles in Iowa and other states, but in this David and Goliath battle so far the moneyed Globalists from the Right and the Left have failed to overcome the dedicated army of volunteers fighting to save the U.S. Constitution from ruin.

In 2015, Former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, called an Article V Constitutional Convention a "horrible idea" in the age of special interests. "Once you get those together, you never know what they're going to do. You'll get everything but the kitchen sink written into the Constitution."

The Article V Convention idea is sovereign suicide. So far, 25 States have weighed in. 12 State legislatures have petitioned Congress to hold this Constitutional Convention. 13 State legislatures have voted it down.  There are 25 other States who have yet to petition. The danger hasn’t passed, because State legislatures keep reintroducing failed issues. The Convention of States is a Soros project and I expect he will continue to push for its passage forever. If two-thirds or 34 States file petitions, Congress will order this Convention and we are screwed. The replacement is the New States Constitution based on the Soviet Union, with appointed, unelected governance. This is part of US Agenda 21.
