Liberal Arts

Liberal Arts grads earn from $35,750 to $52,450.

AJC 7/8/18 page A1 article “Georgia colleges increased offerings in liberal arts”. Pay data includes 2015 liberal arts graduates by major and their average pay

Psychology had 448,864 grads averaging $35,750.
English had 226,034 grads averaging $38,710.
Communications had 373,736 grads averaging $41,600.
Political Science had 222,762 grads averaging $43,730.
Economics had 219,289 grads averaging $52,450.

BS Liberal Arts grads have typically filled a wide variety of jobs outside of their majors. This was the preferred course of study for manufacturing management jobs in the 1960s and was the basis of “classical education”. Students who studied History, Economics, English Literature, Physical Science, Math and Philosophy and integrated these disciplines had a wide range of knowledge and were trained to see the “big picture” and develop our “world-view”. We all learned financial analysis on the job.

History needs to be integrated with economics in order to reveal cause and effect of human behavior. English Literature and Ethics are the bases for learning human behavior. Physical Science, Math and Logic are the bases of accurate analysis. Critical reading of Philosophers reveals their errors and insights. Psychology and Anatomy gives us some idea of human limits and potential and human nature.
