Most Expensive Witch Hunt

The Mueller investigation costs reached $16.7 million as of May 31, 2018. In these first 10.5 months, the monthly cost has been $1.6 million per month.  It looks like this cost could increase to $2 million per month and there is no end in sight

The only substantial issue that was uncovered is cyber hacking attributed to Russia. Nailing this down should not have been that expensive. We have had lots of reports of cyber-attacks from China and other countries on government and private industries.

They also uncovered a minor issue for Facebook. The FBI found that it is possible for anyone to set up bogus Facebook pages. The assumption that Russia did this to create discontent during the 2016 election is a non-issue. Democrats have done a lot more damage creating discontent than Russia could ever hope to achieve.

What the Witch Hunt did was confirm that nobody should ever go to work in government or run for elective office unless they carry very expensive legal insurance with no lifetime maximum and no deductibles. Our legal system is rife with schemes to entrap whoever they go after. I believe everybody involved in prosecution be subject to the same treatment to see how they survive the scrutiny.

I believe the US DOJ has earned an additional 30% reduction in funding and I encourage Congress to cut their budget to remove political activism and cost gouging from its ranks.

A bureaucracy is the most expensive thing you can have and a bureaucracy full of lawyers is unsustainable. They concoct arcane practices and take forever. But I suspect they take forever because they are billing hours. With the Mueller investigation we are hiring lawyers to bill us forever with no limits and no way to stop them. It’s enough to end “special counsels” forever.
