Job Growth in Georgia USA


Georgia job growth advanced by 15,300 jobs in September 2018 according to AJC, 10/18/18 page A9 article “Georgia job growth staying strong.  Georgia added 81,300 jobs in the first 3 quarters of 2018. Georgia unemployment is 3.7%. Georgia’s total job count is 4.57 million.

Labor Force Participation Rate in Georgia decreased to 65.80 percent in 2017 from 66.30 percent in 2016. Labor Force Participation Rate in Georgia averaged 64.19 percent from 1998 until 2017, reaching an all-time high of 66.80 percent in 2015 and a record low of 60.31 percent in 2007. Most job openings from 2008 to 2016 were government jobs.

The population of Georgia was 10.43 million in 2017. Georgia has added 25,699 refugees since 2008 along with an equal number of immigrants. Migrant expansion should be much reduced going forward, allowing more US citizens to become employed.

GA DOL reports that there were 5.155 million in the labor force in September. 4.966 million were employed and 188.6 thousand were unemployed. Non-farm employment was 4.57 million.
