Nuclear Power


The cost of generating electricity with nuclear power is 2 cents per kwh. Along with coal, it is among the cheapest methods of generating electricity.

31 countries have 451 Nuclear Reactors generating electricity with 59 Reactors under construction. These plants have a capacity of 394,054 megawatts.

The US has 99 reactors providing 20% of US electricity. The countries with the most reactors include: France (58), Japan (42), China (39), Russia (35), South Korea (25), India (22) and Canada (19).   The countries with the most reactors under construction are: China (19), Russia (7), India (6) and UAE (4).  The countries with the highest share of Nuclear electricity generation are: France (72%), Ukraine (55%), Slovakia (54%), Hungary (50%) and Belgium (50%),
