Spanish Immigration


Muslims invaded Spain in 711 AD. They were expelled in 1482.  Spain became a colonial power and expanded in South America.

In 1981 Spain had a population of 37,683,363 including 198,042 foreign born.

In 2018 Spain had a population of 46.659,302 including 4,572,807 foreign born.

Immigration to Spain since 1981 has been largely from Europe and South America.

By 2014, Muslim immigration to Spain came from Morocco, Algeria, Pakistan, Senegal, and Nigeria.  There are 2 million Muslim migrants in Spain.

Immigrants also came to Spain from other European countries like Romania, UK, Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Portugal, France, Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Netherlands, Belgium and all other European countries

Immigrants also came to Spain from South American countries like Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Paraguay, Cuba, Venezuela, Uruguay, Chile, Mexico and all other South and Central American countries.
