On March 19th you will
be asked to vote on a blind ballot. The question on the ballot does not tell
you that your Gwinnett Sales Tax will increase to 7% if you vote ‘Yes’ on
approval of a 40+ year transit agreement between MARTA & Gwinnett.
The
ballot also does not tell you that you are actually voting to let MARTA
takeover your bus system and collect $45 million per year. The system is now
being run for less than $15 million per year--without any tax increase.
The ballot also does not
disclose that the “Yes vote” obligates Gwinnett to pay well over $12 billion to
build 3 and a half miles of heavy rail to NOWHERE and the project will take
over 15 years to build out.
You may be dead in 15
years, but until then you will pay not only the one percent additional sales
tax, but additional property taxes, user fees and anything else Gwinnett can
put on you for this financially irresponsible project ...until you die!
