Persian Empire


Settlements date back to 7000 BC and consolidated in 625 BC.

Persia was an Empire was established in 550 BC with its capital in modern day Iran..

The first dynasty of the Persian Empire was created by Achaemenids, established by Cyrus the Great in 550 BC with the conquest of MedianLydian and Babylonian empires. It covered much of the Ancient world when it was conquered by Alexander the Great in 331 BC.

At its height, the Persian Empire stretched from Europe’s Balkan Peninsula—in parts of what is present day Bulgaria, Romania, and Ukraine—to the Indus River Valley in northwest India and south to Egypt.

In 500 BC the Persian Empire stretched from India to Greece and from the Seas to include Southern Russia.

The Persian Empire was conquered by Alexander the Great in 334 BC.
