Waste Water Treatment

Our waste water goes into the sewer lines leaving out homes. Industrial waste goes into drums that are delivered to waste disposal sites.

In urban areas the sewer lines connect and empty at our municipal waste water treatment plants in ponds to allow solids to settle and oils to rise. These are separated

In rural areas our sewer lines can connect to a Septic Tank that allows solids to sink to the bottom. Water from the tank is piped to a sand and rock filtering system and cleaned water flows out of pipes at the end of the filter system.

Sewage treatment is the process of removing contaminants from municipal wastewater, containing mainly household sewage plus some industrial wastewater. Physical, chemical, and biological processes are used to remove contaminants and produce treated wastewater (or treated effluent) that is safe enough for release into the environment. Treated sewer water is released back to our rivers.
A by-product of sewage treatment is a semi-solid waste or slurry, called sewage sludge. The sludge has to undergo further treatment before being suitable for disposal or application to land.
