Indonesia Economy


The population of Indonesia is 266,794,980. It occupies a land mass of 735,400 square miles. Labor force is 125 million. Labor force by occupation is agriculture 32%, industry 21%, services 47%.

Indonesia Nominal GDP is $1.005 trillion. GDP growth is 5.2%. GDP by sector is agriculture 13.7%, industry 41%, services 45.4%. Nominal Per Capita GDP is $3,788 and ranks 114th. Inflation is 3.8%. Unemployment is 5.4%.

Main industries include palm oil, coal, petroleum, natural gas, textiles, automotive, electrical appliances, apparel, footwear, mining, cement, medical instruments and appliances, chemical fertilizers, plywood, rubber, processed food, handicrafts, jewelry and tourism. Ease of doing business is 73rd.

Exports are $168.7 billion in oil, gas, cement, food, electrical appliances, construction, plywood, textiles and rubber sold to China 11.6%, US 11.2%, Japan 11.1%, EU 10%, Singapore 7.8%.

Imports are $156.8 billion of machinery, eauipment, chemicals, fuels and food from China 22.7%, Singapore 10.6%, Japan 9.6%, EU 7.9%, Thailand 6.4% and US 5.3%.

Government revenue is $131.7 billion, spending is $159.6 billion. Government Debt is 33% of GDP. External debt is $344.4 billion. Foreign reserves are $132 billion.
