Infrastructure should be Local


In the 1920s, the federal government gave grants to cities to build sanitary sewers for indoor plumbing and water treatment plants to add chlorine as a disinfectant. Local governments didn’t have the tax dollars to do this. It should have been done as a “one time” thing, but it was the beginning of the end of fiscally responsible federal government with limited powers and limited responsibilities.

The federal government should get out of funding infrastructure and assign it to the States under the 10th Amendment that reserves powers to the States. The US federal government should bring itself into compliance with the “enumerated powers” outlined in the US Constitution (as originally written).

The US Departments of Transportation and Interior should prepare to make this transfer of current unconstitutional federal functions including federal lands and highway maintenance and expansion.

States compete with each other for population and industries to employ their populations. They compete in education and commerce that should not be subsidized by the federal government.

States should take over the maintenance and expansion of the Interstate Highways that reside in their States. They are there and all have State DOTs

States should take over the maintenance and expansion of federal lands that are within their State borders. They are there and all States have State Parks. States should sell their forests to private tree farming families and their pasture land to ranchers.

We no longer need the US Postal Service to be a necessary government function. We have computers, smart phones, UPS and Fedex. The US Postal Service should be privatized as a corporation in the private sector free market system.

We no longer need Public Libraries. We have access to books and information on the internet.

We no longer need a National Association of Buggywhip Manufacturers. We have automobiles.
