Guns are not allowed
in Cambodia, Eritria and North Korea. Guns are restricted in
China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan,
Venezuela and Vietnam.

The 2nd
Amendment in the US Constitution grants non-criminal private citizens the
“right to bare arms”. Guns are needed to provide citizens with the right to
self-defense. In the US, the original intent of the 2nd Amendment
was to allow citizens to protect themselves from attack, abuse and theft by
anyone, including the government. Over time the government has adopted indirect
ways to attack, abuse and steal.
The US Declaration of
Independence includes the right of citizens to engage in secession when
government abuse is excessive and government refuses to end the abuse. Today,
in the US, we replace our politicians in elections every 2, 4 and 6 years.
The practical reasons
for private gun ownership includes protection of property, protection from
attacks by wild animals and deterrence from crime in rural areas. It is useful
to have millions of armed citizens to deter countries from invading each other.
Police don’t prevent
crime, they investigate it, gather evidence, try to find perpetrators and
arrest them. Courts prosecute crime, but don’t prevent crime. Gun control does
not prevent crime, because criminals ignore Gun Laws.
Individual citizens
are responsible for preventing crime by locking their homes and cars and
exercising caution. The Court System provides a revolving door for criminals.
We have no border security or effective visa controls. Drug Addiction creates theft
and murder crimes. Police and Courts punish citizens for defending themselves.
Communist governments
and Dictatorships usually want to disarm their citizens to avoid armed revolts.
Large cities may have ordinances against firing guns, but criminals are not
deterred.
