Freedom vs Law

There are no stated and observed limits placed on US legislatures. There are no stated priorities in spending tax dollars. The US Constitution includes “enumerated powers’ that are routinely ignored. Laws only move in one direction to limit individual freedom and responsibility and increase government employment and expense.

Legislatures need to publish their priorities and make their case on spending. Tax dollar spending should be limited to critical infrastructure before other uses are considered. We have leaking sewer and water pipes that pollute and cause sink holes. But governments are spending most of their money on healthcare and education that is an individual responsibility.

All human beings have self-preservation instincts and have always attempted to protect themselves from harm. But laws discourage them from defending themselves with the promise of unsustainable legal expenses. The end result is that we are all sitting ducks. Laws are designed to make it easier for bad actor to attack their competitors to extort “settlements” and intimidate political enemies.

Laws that are enacted in a rush to placate advocates lack protections from overreach and “unintended consequences”. The Community Reinvestment Act of 1993 was passed to prevent housing discrimination, but required banks to make mortgage loans to unqualified buyers. When these loans predictably failed, the banks went into a liquidity chrisis and created the Financial Meltdown of 2008. This law has not been repealed but needs to be repealed.

Overreaching environmental Bills were ready to enact in 2016, but were stopped with the Trump election. Democrats will resurrect these Bills as soon as they get the chance and your electric bills will increase 500%. Wind and solar cost 14 cents per kwh to produce electricity. Natural gas costs 3 cents per kwh. Coal costs 2 cents per kwh and Hydro costs 0.2 cents per kwh to produce electricity.

Bad Bills are passed because our elected representatives do not work for the voters. They work for the campaign contributors, the lobbyist and the Marxist advocacy non-profits. Campaign contributions should be limited to registered voters only for candidates who appear on their ballot. This would eliminate attack ads and focus the attention to issues and track records. Candidates would be left with websites to post their entire resumes and their positions on issues. They would need travel money and yard signs. Voters would respond. We would get better candidates and better laws. If we let the special interests control our elections we will end up like Venezuela.

Our economy and therefore our livelihoods and freedom depend on a large private sector economy operating under the laws of economics. The law of supply and demand allows consumers to control the prices.  If beef is too high, they buy chicken. Government-run entities that can be run by the private sector should be privatized. This includes public transportation, lending, education and healthcare. Federal and State government subsidies for these need to be reduced and gradually eliminated. Private property rights need to be absolute. Students should be responsible for their own education. Patients should be responsible for their own heathcare. Owners should be responsible for their own businesses and clean up their own messes. Those who choose to buy homes subject to hurricanes, tornados, floods and other hazards should be responsible for their own property. There should be no free lunch.

Our freedom depends on the ability of individuals and families to function autonomously, without government “help”. Families need to be able to deal with family problems. These are all problems that can only be solved by the members who have the problems. Laws that protect individuals from themselves are unnecessary. All bad behavior has its own consequences and no further punishment is needed. Families need the right to banish members who are disruptive or dangerous.

Freedom of association needs to be restored. Employment decisions should be the purview of the employer. The Civil Rights Act should be repealed so that there are no “protected groups”. Hate crime laws are a redundant scam.

Unions were a mistake, but Guilds and Apprenticeships should have been the model to ensure that competent trade skills are developed. Employees are free agents, who should be able to seek out employers who allow them to be themselves and do what they love. Self-employment is often the answer.

Employees who choose to be “different” need to find employers who hire those who are “different”. Those who are really good at their jobs will find these employers and be hired.
