Russian Language Countries


Common language and proximity influence relationships in trade and culture. It accompanies common history.

Years of occupation of USSR satellite countries and trade made the Russian language spread to neighboring countries.
 
Regions where Russian is an Official Language are:

Russia
Belarus
Kazakhstan
Kyrgyzstan Independence disputed
Abkhazia
South Ossetia
Crimea
Gagauzia, Moldova
Transnistria, Moldova

There are several other countries where Russian, though not official, is an important secondary language. These include:
Armenia
Azerbaijan
Estonia
Georgia
Israel
Latvia
Lithuania
Moldova
Mongolia

Ukraine
Uzbekistan


Russia has the most land borders with other countries in the world. Russia has land borders with: Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China and North Korea. These 14 countries share borders with Russia.
