Student Activism

In the 1960s, student organizations were limited to student councils and school related clubs. In colleges, fraternities and sororities were social organizations for a limited number of on-campus students.  Most students in colleges were there to obtain occupational degrees. College tuition was $1000 a year.

Students did protest the Vietnam War. Activism on campus had its roots in Civil Rights. We saw blacks burning down their neighborhoods and had seen violent labor union strikes.

The US had “saved the world” in WWI and WWII and students were aware of other countries, but activism was limited to a few.  Most students were busy studying and working. The US private sector economy was large in 1960, and offshoring manufacturing was limited.

US education was ranked 1st in 1960 compared to all other countries. US education was 18th by 2009 and was 17th in 2018.

Traditionally in the United Stateseducation has been primarily the responsibility of parents and local and state government. The U.S. Constitution says nothing about education, and therefore, according to the 10th Amendment, the role of the federal government is limited.

The education curriculum became the vehicle to indoctrinate students in identity politics, political correctness, fake science, socialism, communism, free stuff and the climate change hoax. The US subsidizes education with taxpayer dollars and spends $1.3 trillion a year with $600 billion to colleges and $700 billion to K-12.
