US Off-shored 10 Million Jobs

From 1997 to 2007, the US lost 10 million jobs to off-shoring. Before 1997 the US offshored shoes, textiles, clothing, steel, aluminum, chemicals and autos.

From 1997 to 2007, the US off-shored critical manufacturing industries. At the top of the list, the electronics industry off-shored 370.3%. After 2007, the US continued to off-shore more electronics and the rest of our manufacturing industries. This resulted in a US Trade Deficit of $891 billion a year in 2018.

Our best option is to impose Tariffs on imports to force companies to return manufacturing jobs to the US. We already know how to automate these manufacturing plants to allow them to increase throughput beyond what they can do in foreign plants.
