The Civilian Labor
Force Participation Rate for 16 to 19 year-olds was 59.3% in August 1978. It
was 33.4% in August 2018.
Teen jobs went to
refugees, illegal and welfare migrants and the mentally handicapped. All were
subsidized by government handouts because they worked in minimum wage
jobs. The minimum wage is good for
teenagers who have few living expenses.
All teens should have a summer job and part-time jobs during the
school-year to teach them how to work.
They should pay
their own auto insurance and buy their own cars. They should work in retail,
fast food and restaurants at minimum wage. They should work for farmers at
harvest in rural counties.
Kids from ages 8 to
16 should learn to do all home chores including preparing meals, washing
clothes, washing dishes, vacuuming, sweeping, doing yard work, cutting grass,
raking leaves, painting and fixing anything that is broken.
I will know when
the US economy is restored when I see teenagers working again. I expect to see
a few adults working in retail, fast food and restaurants, but I expect most of
these employees will be teenagers who are there to learn to work. I expect the
minimum wage adults to migrate higher paying jobs in manufacturing and
transportation.
The US public
education system has extended teenage immaturity well into what should be their
early adult years. The emphasis has not been on Reading, Writing or Math.
Instead the
curriculum has been expanded with Left-Wing Propaganda and Political
Indoctrination on multi-billion dollar campuses. Education is overpriced and
underperforming. It has produced cult members for the Progressive Agenda.
