Our
Founders were business owners and professionals who were successful enough to
contribute their own time and fortunes to establish the United States. They
were farmers, surveyors, land owners, doctors, lawyers, tradesmen and State
Militia commanders. They had been involved in State politics in the 13 British
Colonies. Some were elected by the Legislators of these States to serve in the
Continental Congress. State Legislatures increased their opposition to British
tyranny. Our first 7 Presidents were Founders.
