Covid Pandemic Summary Report 723

On 5/5/23, WHO announced that the Covid pandemic was no longer a global health emergency. WHO approved transitioning Covid19 to post-pandemic activities on 5/7/23.  Covid cases and deaths are receding. WHO continues to post US and Global Covid cases and deaths and is waiting to see if new variants arise. 

The Covid Pandemic lasted for 3 years and 4 months. The first case occurred in November 2019 in Wohan China.

WHO expects Covid 19 to be on-going at lower than pandemic levels. I will continue to post Covid cases and deaths until December 2023 to cover 4 full years.

US Covid deaths have moved from third place to fith place as a leading cause of death behind all Accidents and Sepsis Infections.

CDC and HHS do not maintain current data. Many data sites don’t include the dates of their data was posted or the dates of the data itself.  I found the Sepsis post on a disease specific website because it was included in the earlier 2020 list.

The Covid Virus has morphed several times and some variation will likely continue to exist because the virus can live in other animals. Like Covid 19, other variants are airborn and easily transmitted.

In the United States, the Omicron subvariants XBB1.16, XBB1.5 and XBB2.3 are causing almost all Covid-19 infections, according to data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

In 2022, the CDC estimated that XBB.1.5  caused 40.5% of cases in the US, followed by BQ.1.1 at 26.9%; BQ.1 at 18.3%; BA.5 at 3.7%; and XBB at 3.6%.

The Covid Pandemic gave patients a wake-up call to lower their risks and reverse their co-morbidity. Patients who are overweight can lower their weight to reverse and avoid  diabetes II. Major organs like the kidney, liver, heart and lungs should also avoid strain and be monitored in annual physicals.

The accelerated roll out of the vaccine was impressive. It allowed a vaccine to be developed and distributed in 1 year rather than 5 years.

Covid19 also provided more data to allow virologists to develop more effective vaccines and treatments. The “long covid” cases and side effects of vaccines gives physicians more problems to solve.

There is a need to develop a single vaccine for all air-born viruses. There is also a need to ban “gain of function” research.

Citizens are wary of governments’ handling of the Covid Pandemic and the economic devastation caused by lockdowns, closures, mandates, firings, unnecessary precautions and the high taxpayer cost now residing in their national debt. 

Vaccines have had a history of failing for decades and citizens would prefer the development of safe, effective and immediate treatments for patients with symptoms. 

Public Health governance needs to be pared back from Governors and bureaucrats to emphasize patient autonomy.

Patients should not be subject to extortion by vaccine peddlers.

Patients don’t want government-imposed mandates to apply to infectious disease control. Public Health Laws may have been needed in 1900, but chlorinated water, working sewer systems and antibiotics were effective in irradicating most common diseases of that era. Now we are facing air-born viruses and bacteria.

Covid likely began in November 2019 in Wuhan China when doctors assigned to the biological weapons lab died from Covid exposure. The US saw its first cases in the State of Washington in January 2020.

I began posting my Covid 19 blog on 3/11/20. I chose to use WHO data for the blog. The CDC was using computer models and state agencies didn’t have the data in one place.

WHO had routinely tracked health issues and were set up to process the data. There were several problems that had to be fixed. Tests for the Covid strain needed to be designed, manufactured, distributed and improved.

The cause of death was always organ failure, but Covid initiated it. Covid was an “early harvest" of deaths that would have occurred later due to organ failure. 

Countries were not uniformly ready to respond. This created revisions to the data I recorded on the blog posts. I maintained 2 daily blog posts. The US post included data for each State. The Global post included data for each country. I included a percentage of deaths divided by cases to track States and Countries. I believed that States and Countries with high populations and high GDP were more vulnerable to high case and death counts.

I knew that autocratic countries could control their data.

I knew that readers didn’t know where many of the 230 countries reported were located, so I added population and gdp data after 5/26/20. Readers as least would know if these countries were large or small.

I knew war-torn countries and high tourist and business travel cities would have higher deaths and cases. I believed that natural immunity due to well-functioning immune systems would spare most patients.

I knew that the most vulnerable patients had pre-existing conditions and included older patients.

In July 2020, I warned that multiple testing of asymptomatic patients would result in an increase in case counts and lower the %death/cases. I believed that WHO received redundant and false-positive case counts. 

In 2021, Covid morphed to the less lethal more contagious variants.  In 2022 Covid hit its peak in cases. Deaths peaked in December 2020, April 2021 and February 2022. Cases and deaths dropped in May 2022.

In January 2022 large daily case gains of over 10,000 began to appear. These were quickly isolated to the Pacific region and included Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, S Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, N Korea and Mongolia,  Daily case gains also appeared in Mexico,  Austria,  These finally subsided and ended in May 2023. I attribute these to mandatory, excessive testing of citizens and visitors with no symptoms.

Cases and %Deaths revisions were decreasing and increasing. In 2020 and 2021 this appeared to be corrections to previously reported data. In 2022 and 2023, abnormally high daily case counts appeared to be from excessive testing of asymptomatic citizens and travelers. Most, high case counts were isolated to Asian countries.

Underreporting deaths are suspected in countries where death counts were not updated for months, while case counts rose. This occurred in China, N Korea, Cuba, Laos, other countries and the US Military.

Global %Deaths/Cases continues to trend flat to down, because the Covid19 pandemic is ending. Countries are reporting higher case counts and lower death counts. Countries with the highest %Death/Case are Yemen, Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Bosnia, Sudan, Syria, Egypt and Somalia.

I will be removing the data below from my daily Covid Global blog posts. The revisions and high case counts have subsided and this becomes part of the history of covid.
