US House Members serve 2-year Terms. US Senate Members serve 6-year Terms. There are no “Term Limits” on the Number of Terms House Members and Senate Members can serve. US Business leaders want access to their House and Senate Members to help solve their problems in dealing with Federal Agencies and seem to be happy with “No Term Limits” for House and Senate Members. Business Leaders continue to fund campaigns for their Politicians in order to maintain “access”. The Deck is Stacked. Politicians do what their Campaign Contributors want, not what their voters want. Voters need to fund campaigns with their small donations.
Voters give “Low Approval Ratings” under 20% to House and Senate Members. Voters know that Politicians don’t work for them.
“Those who like sausages and laws should never watch either of them being made.” House and Senate “Rules” dictate how laws are made and some of these “Rules” foster skepticism among voters. The “Rules” allow actions that don’t inspire confidence.
“Horse Trading” that amounts to “I’ll vote for your bad Bill if
you vote for my bad Bill.
“Band Wagons: are used to encourage House and Senate Members to
vote for Bills they believe will pass.
“Bumb’s Rush” is used to hurry up the voting process before
anybody can object to a bad Bill.
“Misnaming the Bill” is routine in hiding bad law.
The Consequences of Bad Laws are not considered. Politicians will “pile on” if they think the Voters will like it. They don’t want to be seen as a “No Vote” on a Popular Bill. They don’t take the time to question the ultimate cost vs benefit of the Bill.
Moving Blame for a Bad Law was used when Congress refused to
pass a Bill that would have declared the Legal Right to Live of an unborn child
somewhere between Conception and Delivery. The Congress tossed this “Hot Potato
to the Liberal Supreme Court and “Roe v Wade” in January 1973. The U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade
on June 2022 and sent it to the States to have the voters decide. The
Consequences of Roe v. Wade included 63,459,781 total abortions since 1973

The United States government began operating under the Constitution on March 4, 1789. The Founders were elected and were careful to consult with merchants to learn what would help them move goods and engineers to solve transportation problems. George Washington served for 2 terms, paid off the war debt in 1790 by selling Bonds and retired to his Plantation in 1797. The next two Presidents were John Adams and Thomas Jefferson. The Free Press ensured that voters knew the issues that involved debates over states rights and limited federal powers. Voters could read at grade level.
Better Candidates could be found and convinced to run. There several reasons that the Best Candidates don’t run. Campaigns are too expensive because of reliance on TV ads. “Hit Job TV ads” need to be banned as libel and slander. Political ads should be restricted to issues. Candidates need to be required to have a website that lists their positions on all issues and includes a full, vetted Resume so voters can see if their experience is sufficient. Candidates should include their voting Records on their Website and the Voting Records of their Opponent. Candidates need to be able to explain their Votes.
States need to change their campaign laws to make running less expensive and less onerous. State Legislatures could limit outside money so that Soros is banned from US election interference. If only voters could make campaign contributions, and only for candidates who appear on their ballot, the Politicians would work for the voters. State Legislatures will resist this, because they are used to the current system.
The problem with tight term limits without other changes is that we would get the same crowd and they would not be in office long enough to learn how it works. Term Limits of 10 years for the House and 12 years for the Senate could work if the onerous elements were removed. Democrats have the worst candidates. Republicans have a good deep bench of potential candidates. To restore a 2-party system, Democrats will have to clean up their act.
Term Limits were not included in the Original Constitution. We were blessed to have Founders running the US Government from 1800 to 1830. George Washington was able to retire after two 4-year terms and know that the other Founders would do well.
We have a Deep Bench of Republican Leaders. The Democrats have a Thin Bench of Candidates who lack the right background and lack good judgment.
If Term Limits are passed, Party Leaders will need to ensure that qualified back-up candidates are being developed. Trump chose Vance to continue the MAGA movement.
