Lori Chavez DeRemer Labor Secretary 11-26-24

WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump on Friday named Oregon Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer to lead the Department of Labor in his second administration, elevating a Republican congresswoman who has strong support from unions in her district but lost reelection in November 

Chavez-DeRemer is a graduate of Hanford High School in Kings County, California. She earned a Bachelor's degree in business administration from California State University, Fresno.

Lori Michelle Chávez-DeRemer born in 1968 is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Oregon's 5th congressional district since 2023.  

A member of the Republican Party, Chavez-DeRemer served as mayor of Happy Valley, Oregon, from 2011 to 2019. Chavez-DeRemer was elected to the city council of Happy Valley, Oregon, in 2004. She was elected mayor in 2010 and reelected in 2014. She served as mayor until 2018.

Lori Chavez-DeRemer is pro-blue-collar for both union and non-union workers. The test will be whether or not she can improve the Bad Data on the BLS Jobs Reports and reform the culture. Securing believable data on jobs added by category has been a failure.
