Caleb Vitello ICE Director 12-12-24

Caleb Vitello is a member of the Senior Executive Service and is currently the Assistant Director for the Office of Firearms and Tactical Programs (OFTP). He has more than 23 years of federal law enforcement experience all with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He leads OFTP in providing specialized firearms and tactical training, as well as all equipment, support and policy guidance necessary to promote both officer and public safety while enabling effective execution of the agency’s law enforcement mission. 

Prior to joining OFTP, Mr. Vitello served as the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Chief of Staff (CoS), overseeing all daily operations and taskings, as well as internal and external communications impacting an organization with a budget of $4.12 billion and a workforce of more than 7,900.

Prior to his appointment as the CoS, Mr. Vitello served at the White House National Security Council as the Director for Interior Enforcement, where he headed a child and welfare safety initiative and ensured enforcement efforts were focused on the greatest threats to national security and public safety. In his tenure, Mr. Vitello served as Unit Chief and Deputy Assistant Director of the National Fugitive Operations Program within ERO’s Enforcement Division. Between 2015 and 2020, he received two Director’s Awards, as well as Director’s awards for Innovation, Exemplifying Core Values, and Protecting the Homeland.

Mr. Vitello began his career with the New York City Field Office in 2001 and was a founding member of their Special Response Team (SRT) Program, and a Senior Defensive Tactics Instructor. Mr. Vitello went on to lead the SRT national training and certification program at Fort Moore (formerly Ft. Benning), Georgia, and later assumed management of the national SRT Program within ERO’s Enforcement Division. Mr. Vitello was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
