Global Dumping Scam 4-11-25

The Dumping Scam involved countries like Japan, where the government was sponsoring and underwriting next-generation, advanced, high quality manufactured equipment so their companies could offer this equipment in the US at competitive prices. 

When I began my Consulting Practice in 1993, I warned my client companies to keep their manufacturing in the US to protect their patents and avoid a year of returning Chinese made circuit boards while they went through the learning curve.  The Big Dumb companies did it anyway. The Smaller Smarter companies listened and continued to make their own circuit boards. We all used Japanese circuit board stuffing machines.

I became aware of the global dumping scam first hand in 1981. I was working at Rickle Manufacturing in Salina Kansas.

Rickle had developed their custom 3-wheel fertilizer applicator. Our competitors had cheaper 4-wheel applicators. Japan was dumping their cars in the US, offering better mileage and better quality. Kubota, the Japanese Ag Equipment company was developing a line of equipment to dump in the US. In 1983, we sold Rickle to Ag Chem. I was selected to establish the Personnel Function for Saline Count as a Consultant. I finished it and moved to Atlanta. My wife was ready to get her Dental Hygiene degree and Atlanta had the college.

I also learned in 1981 that the USSR was broke. We sold several Rickel 3-wheeled fertilizer applicators to the USSR and discovered how broke they really were. President Reagan knew it too. The USSR had overextended and were struggling to retain its “satellite countries”. The US new media didn’t report it. In 1989 Mikhail Gorbachev released the “satellite countries” he could no longer afford.

I benefitted from dumping by Japan. In 2005, I was researching for a car for my granddaughter and discovered that the 2005 Toyota Prius Hybrid got 60mpg. I knew Japan had introduced the Prius Hybrid in 2000 and the 2005 model was an improved redesign. I also found out that I could get a $2000 tax deduction. Gas prices had reached $3 per gallon. I bought 2 Prius Hybrids, one for me and one for my granddaughter in 2005. We had been buying 2 year-old Cadillacs that got 20mpg and sold them and my wife got a Prius. The 2005 Prius is still running after 20 years of driving and maintenance costs have been low. I am impressed that the Japanese government invested for 20 years to develop the Toyota Prius Hybrid.

In the 1970s, President Nixon opened trade with China. In the 1990s US manufacturing began moving to China and by 2000 China had captured most US manufacturing. This was the “Global Economy Scam”.

Now Trump is working at unraveling the mess. He is returning to the Family as the basic economic unit and the Nation as the sovereign of each national economy. 

The Tariff Negotiations between the US and its trading partners are beginning. Trump is receiving calls from trading partners to meet and negotiate.
