Willful Blindness

85% of the population has “willful blindness”.  Fear drives this phenomenon, fear of knowing how bad it is.  Non-voters have this along with those who dislike controversy or engage in “wishful thinking”.  These are folks who don’t want to see trouble coming.  They are in denial.
This is real “head in the sand” behavior that prompts 40% of voters to not vote.  Some don’t vote because they are not interested in who is elected.  Some believe we are doomed and their vote won’t change anything.  Others just don’t take the time.
It would be different if our problems were masked, but they are not.  Everybody knows that ‘government’ is printing money, but haven’t noticed that inflation is occurring yet.  They want to believe the lie that this money printing won’t result in high inflation.  They want to believe there won’t be a price to pay.  Everybody knows our national debt and unfunded liabilities are unsustainable. Everybody knows that government take-overs result in rising costs and declining outcomes, yet voters allow these government power grabs. Everybody knows that their children and grandchildren can’t find jobs that pay enough for them to be self-supporting, but they don’t see the long term implications of this decline. Nobody wants to face the fact that all these things were designed to happen on purpose.
