College or Not

Many students are graduating from high school in May and trying to determine their next step.  Many don’t know what they want to do when they grow up.

Many think they need to go to college and are opting to go to community colleges to save money and complete their first 2 years. If they can commute to college from home, they will save room and board expenses.

If they work part-time jobs, they will help their parents with their college expenses.  Most students should know by now that they need to avoid large amounts of student loans they may not be able to repay.

Some are taking college courses on line and some already have college credit for AP courses they took in high school. Some know that most 4 year universities are toxic with “snowflakes” and what is taught is not true or useful. These are Liberal Propaganda Indoctrination Camps.

Students who want to become engineers, software developers, accountants, nurses, teachers, physicians or lawyers will need a degree to reach their goals.

Students who want to become electricians, plumbers, HVAC Installers, welders, carpenters, brick layers and auto mechanics will go to trade schools. Students who want to become Police Officers must graduate from the Police Academy.

Most other students are in trouble. A degree in business might help to get a sales job, but those with part-time experience will get these jobs.  Many others may find that the only jobs they can get involve waiting tables at high-end eateries or clerical jobs.

Degrees in majors like international business, political science, history, art history, black history, women’s studies, communication, English, sociology, psychology, philosophy, theology, environmental studies and criminal justice are not likely on their own to land the degree holder in any professional job. These courses are important, but can be studied independently and they are not typically occupational courses except for teachers.

A List of the current BS Degrees in demand include: Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration Management, Electrical Engineering, Information Sciences and Systems, Marketing, Logistics/Supply Chain and Management Information Systems.

A BS in Math gives students the option to move to Engineering and Software Development.  Other occupational choices like Architecture and Fine Arts have their own job markets.
