Government Incompetence in US

Government involvement has ruined healthcare and education. Both are overpriced and underperforming. There is a strong case to remove government from any involvement in either industry. Laws and regulations for these industries need to be repealed and subsidies need to be reduced.

Governors and Presidents are expected to lead by submitting their plans to their legislatures. Members of the legislature are expected to debate the merits of these plans, weigh priorities and make a determination on how they will vote on each Bill. This doesn’t happen. Legislators are expected to cow-tow to the Governor’s wishes and are ostracized if they don’t. They are expected to enthusiastically jump on the “band-wagon” before they know where it is going. The special interest agenda is pushed through the legislature. In the process, powers that had been effectively exercised by “the People” and the Private Sector have been usurped by government. Government spending is now completely out of control and is unsustainable.

Government in the States operate independently. Governors are tasked with leading these sovereign entities. States are not free from federal controls, but the powers of each need to be limited and they are not. 

The federal government has “enumerated powers” in the US Constitution to limit their scope, but they are ignored. The majority of our federal departments, agencies and programs are unconstitutional and this needs to be fixed.

I believe that the federal government must return to adherence to the US Constitution and announce a plan to return to comply with the “enumerated powers” by ceding unconstitutional activities to the States and the People. Congress must return to compliance with the 10^th Amendment and the requirement to have States ratify Amendments before they add to federal “enumerated powers”.

States also lack clear limited powers and need to establish categorical priorities that will define the planned limits they will achieve. These priorities should be limited to critical infrastructure.

Voters have been removed from the governing process. Elected officials work for their campaign contributors, not the voters. Special interest groups control all layers of government and this includes government employees. Consequently, government at all levels is bloated and wasteful with “nanny state” “services” and abusive practices.
