China has a population
of 1.4 billion people. China’s per capita pork consumption has risen from
28.5kg in 2011 to 33.7kg in 2018. Total consumption of pork is 47.2 billion kg.
That’s 103.84 billion lb. or 52,029,032 tons In 2017 China imported 1.2 million
tons of pork. China is expecting pork demand to rise in China so it has been
building big Pig Farms.
China imported 346,151
tons of pork in Q1 2017. Based on that, China would import 1.385 tons of pork
each year. But China’s pork imports dropped to 90,000 tons per month or
1.080,000 tons per year.
