Napoleonic Wars 1803-1815


The Napoleonic Wars were the aftermath of the French Revolution. Being attacked from all sides, the French Military had grown to become a considerable threat on its own.

In 1803, France sells Louisiana to the US for $15 million. Britain declares war on France. France allies with Spain. Spain declares war on Britain.
In 1804, Napoleon becomes Emperor.
In 1805, Russia allies with Britain. France annexes Genoa. Napoleon becomes King of Italy. Napoleon defeats Russia and Austria at Austerlitz.
In 1806, 16 German states ally with France. France invades Saxony. Holy Roman Empire is dissolved. France defeats Prussia.
In 1807, Napoleon controls France, Italy, Switzerland, Netherlands and Poland.
In 1808, Napoleon controls Spain
In 1809, Austria attacks Bavaria. Napoleon enters Vienna.
In 1810, Napoleon annexes Holland.
In 1811, Russia limits French trade.
In 1812, Napoleon enters Moscow. Napoleon retreats from Russia.
In 1813, Prussia, Austria, Bavaria and Saxony declare war on France.
In 1814, Napoleon abdicates, sent to Elba.
In 1815, Napoleon returns from Elba.  Britain defeats France in the Battle of Waterloo and Napoleon abdicates and returns to Elba.
