Mental Health

Mental health requires good judgment and good choices to function in an intelligent, life-giving fashion.

Raising children to develop good mental health requires a balance to allow them to fulfill their genetic destiny while making sure that they don’t harm themselves or others and that they don’t develop unhelpful, destructive behaviors.

Children need encouragement to develop their talents and interests and use these to determine future occupations. This requires that they develop of love of accomplishment.

Children need to know “right from wrong” from their parents to avoid maladjustment.  Children come equipped with “free will”, but need to learn house rules starting with keeping themselves safe, not breaking things and not harming others. We encourage children to toilet train, wash and dress themselves.

Parents need to ensure that their list of house rules is short so that their kids actually enjoy living there. They need to realize that their kids are learning from their friends, so they need to ensure that their kids are expose to “good kids”.

More parents are homeschooling their kids to keep them from bad influences routinely found in schools. The kids in our schools spend 8 hours a day attempting to learn a “one-size-fits-all curriculum and the kids in our homeschool programs spend 4 hours a day on priority basics and 4 hours a day on subjects they are interested in. Homeschool programs include joint sessions where kids get to know other homeschool kids who are also 2 grades ahead of their age groups.
