Mental Illness

The span of mental illness is a continuum that ranges from minor maladjustment to severe, debilitating, life-threatening conditions.  We are all a little crazy and have some habits that are a little crazy. The difference between diligence and compulsiveness is often hard to distinguish.

Traditional serious mental illnesses included psychosis, schizophrenia, paranoia, manic depression, catatonia, hydrocephaly, microcephaly and dementia.

Hydrocephaly and microcephaly are birth defects.

Brain injuries are caused by accidents.

Drug addiction and alcoholism treatment requires total abstinence and reorientation to functioning.

Psychosis includes hallucinations and reality dystopia.

Psychopath is a diagnosis for “criminally insane” and usually requires permanent incarceration.

Sociopathic behavior lacks empathy for others and insistence that other people cause all their problems.

Manic Depression has been renamed “Bi-Polar Disorder”. Periods of Manic, high energy activity and Depression, low energy crash will vary. Treatment requires medication, usually Lithium.  Some of these patients are high functioning in the manic phase.

Homosexuality was considered a functional abnormality along with bestiality and child abuse, but Gay Rights activists are campaigning to become a “protected group”.

Gender Dystopia is a new piece of sabotage from the Gay Rights crowd, but sex change surgery will fade with the elimination of health coverage as not “medically necessary”.

The LGBT behaviors more reflect a sub-culture than a mental illness. Activists are attempting to recruit others to support their aberrant sexual practices. Ancient Hedonism was never considered to be a mental illness, it was part of some ancient cultures.

Conditions that require therapy include severe anti-social behavior, destructive isolation, unresolvable anger, compulsive rebelliousness and cult behavior that can result in violence, terror attacks and murder. Parents need to have severely troubled children analyzed and assessed.

Troubling tendencies in children that parents should address are less violent tendencies, but are self-limiting and self-destructive and anti-social like being a “loner”, reflected in bad grades and rebellious behavior.  Drug tests should be done to determine if drugs are the problem.

Rebellion by children should diminish as children reach age 4 and reappear again as children reach age 14.  Some children are not rebellious at all and that’s a blessing.  Parents need to correct their children, but avoid being tyrannical about every little thing.  Humor is the best medicine and small failings should be forgiven.  Children are sovereign entities entrusted to parents to raise carefully. Children are like sheep that require kindness and vigilance. Children are all unique and different.  Children should learn that learning and work are fun.  This does not come naturally to some children.  Children are like a box of candy…you never know what you are going to get.
