Jordan


The population of Jordan is 9.9 million, land area is 34,495 square miles. In 2017, Jordan’s nominal GDP was $40.5 billion, nominal per capita GDP was $5,180 per year. Labor force was 2.02 million, Poverty was 14.4% Unemployment was 12.3%.

GDP by sector was services 66%, industry 30%, agriculture 4%. Labor force by occupation was services 77.4%, industry 10.1% and agriculture 3.6%.

Main industries include clothing, phosphate mining, fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, petroleum refining, cement, potash, inorganic chemicals, light manufacturing and tourism.

Exports were est. $6.521 billion in clothing, pharmaceuticals, potash, phosphates, fertilizers and vegetables sold to Iraq, US, Saudi Arabia, India and UAE.

Imports est. $15.65 billion including crude oil, textile fabrics, machinery, transport equipment and manufactured goods from Saudi Arabia, China, US, India and Italy.

Government debt was 57.5% of GDP. Revenues were $5.783 billion, Expenditures were $7,623 billion. Foreign reserves were 13.28 billion.
