US Empire

The US was founded on Judeo-Christian Law and Western Civilization history. Colonists and future immigrants were European Christians.

The Founding Fathers of the US based our founding documents on principles suggested by a short list of philosophers.

Marcus Tullius Cicero (106–43 B.C.) introduced Natural Law based on Human Nature.

The Magna Carta of 1215 established rules for English Kings to ensure citizens’ rights.

Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679) recommended that everyone give up their right to kill or steal.

James Harrington (1611-1677) suggested a House, a Senate and a combination of an Executive and the Courts.

John Locke (29 August 1632 - 28 October 1704) suggested “life, liberty and property” as God-given rights.

Charles de Montesquieu (1689-1755) suggested a separate Judiciary, stressed having an informed electorate and warned about democracies ending in bankruptcy.

Protestant Ministers preached against British abuse of colonists in the 1700s and prepared their congregations to resist this abuse. They preached hard work and Biblical principles and paved the way for the Founders.

The US Constitution of 1779 establishes the role of government to ensure citizens’ rights to property, speech and freedom and limited government with a free market economy.

The Founders chose to establish a Republic with elected Presidents and legislators. They rejected Monarchy. They had 200 years from 1600 to 1800 to understand how to establish a Meritocracy. They already had elected State governments and enough capable leaders.
