Con Con Danger

The Gold Dome passed the SB 794 calling for a Constitutional Convention to pass an Amendment to require the federal government balance the federal budget.

Legal scholars have warned that there is a danger in calling a Constitutional Convention and claim that this appointed group can change more than they were sent to do.
Tea Partiers would love to see the federal government adhere to a balanced budget, but we believe a balanced budget could be achieved if the federal government would get out of its unconstitutional activities.  These are the activities the federal government fails to pass the cost vs benefit test.  These include Public Education that began to decline when the DOE was established.  It Includes the EPA, Forest Service, clearly State functions and many, many more departments and agencies.  Homeland Security, Commerce, Labor and Interior come to mind. County health clinics and hospitals are clearly county functions.

Nancy Pelosi has also endorsed the ConCon.  I’m sure she would like to see Congress demand that taxes be raised to $6 trillion a year to pay for all the programs “the people” are demanding.  She would like to include all the unconstitutional federal activities In the balanced budget amendment.  That would ensure that government would continue to grow to ensure its morbidity. We are approaching our Perestroika (restructuring) moment.  We can no longer afford to continue on our present course.
I would like to see the federal government abolish most departments and agencies, shrink and operate on less than $1 trillion a year with vastly reduced functions and activities.

It would have been better to pass Georgia Sovereignty laws and lay claim to all unconstitutional federal activities.
Norb Leahy, Dunwoody GA Tea Party Leader
