Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 311,000 in Febuary 2023 and the unemployment rate moved up from 3.4%to 3.6%. The number of unemployed persons moved up from 5.6 million to 5.9 million.
Professional and business services jobs increased by 45,000 in Febuary and is above February 2020 levels by 1,000,000 jobs.
Financial jobs did not increase in Febuary. Employment in financial activities is 200,000 jobs above its February 2020 level.
Health care jobs increased by 44,000 in Febuary and has recovered since February 2020.
Social Assistance jobs increased by 19000 in Febuary.
Manufacturing jobs did not increase in Febuary and is at its February 2020 level.
Construction jobs increased by 24000 in Febuary.
Other Services jobs did not increase in Febuary.
Information lost 25000 jobs in Febuary.
Wholesale jobs did not increase in February,.but has recovered since February 2023.
Leisure and hospitality jobs increased by 105,000 in Febuary. Jobs were down by 410000 since February 2020.
Government jobs increased by 46000 in Febuary including 37000 in local government job gains. Government Jobs are down 376000 since February 2020.
Mining Jobs did not increase in Febuary.
Oil and Gas Extraction Jobs did not increase in February.
Transportation and Warehouse lost 22000 jobs in Febuary.
Retail jobs rose by 50000 in Febuary. Retail jobs are down by 150,000 since February 2020.

Comments
The US Jobs deficit was 9.5 million in January 2021. This is the shortfall between jobs held in February 2020.
Over 5 million illegal immigrants entered the US since January 2021. I expect they will take government welfare in addition to jobs in food service, landscaping and drug cartel jobs. Over 2 million legal immigrants arrive each year and 2 million US students graduate each year.
