GA Religious Freedom Bill Update

The Georgia House should pass the RFRA that was passed by the State Senate. This protects religious beliefs and would prevent the government from forcing PRIVATE business owners to violate their religious beliefs when they engage in commerce. Private business owners should have the right to choose their customer base - not the government. Individuals that don't agree have the right to choose not to patronize those businesses. This bill was patterned after one that passed under the Clinton administration.

A baker has right to choose not to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple, just like a Jewish restaurant owner has the right not to sell items that violate their religious beliefs.    According to Erick Erickson , Speaker Ralston is blocking this bill. The House Reps elected David Ralston as Speaker and they can choose to remove him if he blocks a bill the majority of the GOP Caucus wants. It is gut check time for House Republicans. Will they side with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce or the voters in their districts ? Gov. Deal is also blocking this bill and is siding with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
