When our
nation was founded, those who led the founding were not chosen to be
“representative” of the population. They did not ensure that all races, sexes,
religions and sexual deviations were considered. They were elected by the
British colony version of “state reps”. They sent leaders, the smartest folks
they had in their ranks. They sent men with ability and integrity, who they
knew and trusted to ensure that the will of the people would be accounted for.
.
Those
elected were wealthy farmers, merchants, professionals and businessmen who had
established their farms and businesses to operate well without their undivided
attention. They were the best and the brightest in their States and served in
the British military, state government and the courts. They had partners, hired help, indentured
servants, apprentices and slaves to run their businesses while they were away.
They had the time to devote to the colonial government and were active.
They were
distracted from their work when their British King began to abuse them. They
met, wrote down their grievances and had them delivered to the King, who then
became more abusive. This further
motivated them to eventually break with Britain and declare their independence.
They served their country and retired. Some
were called on to serve again and they did. All knew that leadership should be
rotated and those who followed them should be selected based on the people
agreeing with them on the issues.
We have
something similar coming in 2017. Trump
is a wealthy businessman, who has decided to leave his business to serve as
President at a time when his solutions are needed. His cabinet is being filled with the best and
the brightest Constitutional conservatives he can find. His goal is to root out corruption thoroughly
and put our country back on the path to prosperity and restore our military.
Trump’s
call for term limits and insider career pathing tells me that he agrees with
the founders’ determination to rotate the ruling oligarchy to avoid the
corruption that ignores the will of the people.
